One morning, Andy the Ant was boasting of his speed to his ant friends in a rose garden.

“I have never yet been beaten. I challenge any one here to race with me, he said. There was no answer. There was no ant brave to challenge him.

“Hmmm, there was nobody able to race with me here. I am going to challenge those are flying up there,’ said Andy the Ant.

Andy saw Blue the Butterfly. “How about you, Blue? I challenge you to race with me,” said Andy.

“No, thank you,” Blue replied.

“Are you afraid of me?” asked Andy.

“Not at all. I enjoy flying up on the air. I can’t run down the land. But I can be the jury for your race. Please find someone in your size and your speed, Andy!” said the Butterfly.

Andy saw Daisy the Dragonfly. “How about you, Daisy?” I challenge you to race with me,’ said the Ant.

“No, thank you,” Daisy replied.

“Are you afraid of me?” asked the Andy.

‘Not at all. I enjoy flying up on the air. I can’t run down the land. But I can be the jury for your race. Please find someone in your size and your speed, Andy!” said the Dragonfly.

Andy saw Benny the Bee. How about you, Benny?” I challenge you to race with me,’ said Andy.

“No, thank you,” Benny replied.

“Are you afraid of me?” asked Andy.

‘Not at all. I enjoy flying up on the air. I can’t run down the land. But I can be the jury for your race. Please find someone in your size and your speed, Andy!” said the Bee.

Andy the Ant shouted and said “I have never yet been beaten. “I challenge any one here to race with me.

Suddenly, Andy heard somebody else shouting loudly from a distance. “Wait ….! Wait …...!”

There was Sherly the Snail walking very slowly down the path in the roses garden. “I don’t want to challenge you …, but I’d like to learn racing with you. Wait for me ….,” said Sherly.

Andy the Ant waited for Sherly the snail. The other animals looked at Sherly with a half eye as he was closed to Andy. Do you accept my challenge or not? Andy asked arrogantly,

“Well, now I accept your challenge if that is what you want,” Sherly replied.

“That is a good joke,” said Andy. “I could dance round you all the way, Sherly.”

“Keep your boasting till you ‘re beaten,” answered Sherly. “Shall we race?”

So, a race competition in the garden was fixed and a start was made. The juries were Blue the Butterfly, the Daisy the Dragonfly, and Benny the Bee.

Andy the Ant darted almost out of sight at once, but soon he stopped under the white beautiful roses. He believed that Sherly the Snail could never catch him. He lied down by the wayside to have a nap.

‘Wake up, Andy. Keep running!” Blue the Butterfly woke him up and reminded him to race. Unfortunately, Andy said “thank you, Blue. Don’t worry! Nobody will beat me.” Andy lied down and slept again. The Butterfly left him; flew over through Sherly the Snail and the spectators; and stopped nearby the finish line.

Meanwhile, Sherly the Snail never for a moment stopped. She went on patiently with a slow but steady pace straight along the race lane. She heard “Sherly! Sherly! Sherly! Do your best!” The spectators were enthusiastic to motivate Sherly. She passed the white roses. She started sweating.

“Wake up, Andy. Keep running!” Daisy the Dragonfly woke him up and reminded him to race. Unfortunately, Andy said “Thank you, Daisy. Don’t worry! Nobody will beat me.” Andy lied down under the white roses and slept again. The Dragonfly left him; flew over through Sherly the Snail and the spectators; and stopped nearby the finish line.

Meanwhile, Sherly the Snail never for a moment stopped. She went on patiently with a slow but steady pace straight along the race lane. Now, she passed the pink roses. She was more sweating.

“Wake up, Andy. Keep running!” Benny the Bee woke him up and reminded him to race. Unfortunately, Andy said “Thank you, Benny. Don’t worry! Nobody will beat me.” Benny the Ant lied down under the white roses and slept again. The Dragonfly left him; flew over through Sherly the Snail and the spectators; and stopped nearby the finish line.

Meanwhile, Sherly the Snail never for a moment stopped. She went on patiently with a slow but steady pace straight along the race lane. She heard “Sherly! Sherly! Sherly! Come on! Keep running!” The spectators were enthusiastic to motivate Sherly. Now, she passed the yellow roses. She was very tired, thirsty, and hungry and full of sweat.

“Wake up, Andy. Keep running!” a few ants woke him up and reminded him to race. Unfortunately, Andy said “Thank you, guys. Don’t worry! Nobody will beat me.” Andy the Ant lied down under the white roses and slept again. The ants left him; came back and joined the other spectators to watch Sherly the Snail racing.

Meanwhile, Sherly the Snail never for a moment stopped. She went on patiently with a slow but steady pace straight to the end of the race lane. She heard “Sherly! Sherly! Sherly! Keep running! You can do it!” The spectators were enthusiastic to motivate Sherly. Now, she passed the orange roses. She was more tired, thirstier, and hungrier. She could feel the salty of his sweat.

Finally, the white roses shook Andy the Ant and said “Wake up, Andy. Keep running!”

Andy replied “Thank you, dear roses. Don’t worry! Nobody will beat me.”

“We don’t think so. Look at Sherly! She is close to the finish line!” said the white roses.

Andy the Ant woke up from his nap. He saw Sherly the Snail just near the winning post. Andy ran as fast as he could, but it was too late. He saw Sherly had reached the finish line nearby the red roses. The juries and her friends were waiting for her.

“Congratulation, Sherly! Being patient and steady wins the race, said the juries.

“You are Sherly the Inspirer. You have inspired us. So we'll never give up, just like you didn't give up today. We are proud of you,” said her friends.

Sherly could hear, “Sherly! Sherly! Sherly!” Her friends and the other spectators were enthusiastic to congratulate her. She is so happy and grateful.

Andy the Ant still keep running and finished his race until the finish lane. “Congratulation, Sherly!” said Andy as he arrived in the finish line. “You are Sherly the Teacher. You have taught me something very valuable today. I’ll never forget you. And I’ll never forget this day. I am sorry for underestimating you. I am proud of you now.

The sun was smiling and shining. The Butterfly, the Dragonfly and the Bee enjoyed flying around the roses garden. Andy the Ant was happy to see the happiness in Sherly the Snail’s eyes. That morning turned into cheerful and beautiful day.
